SF2020 - Bonus Round 1: Three Words
Three words can mean the world! Whether it is a sentence or disconnected terms, what will you choose to convey with limited words?
This bonus round will be open until Saturday, June 27th at 11:59pm (midnight) EDT. (Countdown)
This round is now closed!
The screening period is over! You're still able to post prompts and fills for this round but they won't count for points!
If you posted or edited a fill while comments were being screened, please use the comment unscreening form to let us know so we can unscreen it!
Rules
- Submit prompts by commenting any three words of your choosing! This can be a phrase or a list of words. Example:
- I love you
- Home, keys, together
- Let them go
- I love you
Format
Required Work Minimums:- 400 words (prose)
- 400px by 400px (art)
- Traditional art is also allowed with a good quality photo/scan
- 14 lines (poetry)
- Playlists - 5 song minimum with artists. Link to either a video playlist, or each song separately. Be sure to warn for content in the music videos, and you may find linking to lyrics helpful. You may also write an explanation of why you chose each song.
- Moodboards - 9 photo min, source all photos, and no fanart allowed (unless it's your own)
- Fake Social Media - 4 images min
- If you’d like to use a different medium, please contact the mods if you have any questions about minimum requirements.

Akane let himself fall on the tatami floor of the living room, not expecting to ever be able to move again after another hellish evening running session. Beside him, he could hear footsteps and the sound of a zabuton falling near his face and a plopping sound. Hands started playing with his hair and he scrunched his nose in disgust at the thought of its questionable state of cleanness. Yet, asking for the affection to stop didn’t even cross his mind and he felt himself relax into the touch, thoughts slowly slipping into a state of slumber and he hummed, pleased.
The movement stopped and Akane let out a sound of protest, head chasing the hand as it was getting pulled away from him.
“Come on, Prince. You’re still in your sportswear. Besides, you shouldn't fall asleep there.”
With herculean efforts, he succeeded in pushing himself into a seating position. He blinked at his teammate.
“Kakeru, how dare you. It’s your fault if I’m like this, you owe me. The least you could do is leave me be.”
The corner of the first year’s mouth turned upwards in a so subtle way that he could only catch it thanks to his closeness.
“Technically, it’s Haiji’s fault for tricking us all.”
“You’re the one training me so as far as I’m concerned it’s your fault.”
Kakeru sighed.
“Fine, Prince. I’ll take responsibility for making you a better runner. So, what do you want ? A manga ? A blu-ray of an OVA ? I don’t think we’d have the luxury of taking time off considering our tight schedule.”
Akane pouted.
“You didn’t even try asking.”
“That’s because I have a functioning survival instinct. You’re free to ask Haiji yourself.”
He shivered at the mere thought.
“I’m good. Ugh, that’s not fair.”
This time, the first year gave him a noticeable smile.
“You’re very strong, Prince. You’ll be fine. You’ll get below the 16 min time. I know you will.”
He hold out a snort.
“Well, I hope you’re right because if I’ve done all of this for nothing-”
“It’s won’t be for nothing. Even if for some reason you can’t make it in time, it won’t be for nothing, and no one will blame you. Not Haiji, and certainly not me.”
Akane turned away his face to hide its heavy blush and he promptly got on his feet and hurried to the the bathroom only gracing his teammates with a quick announcement of his intention to go wash himself.
Half an hour later and he had just started making himself comfortable in his usual sitting place in his room, hair still wet from the quick shower he had opted for. Soothed by his mountains of manga surrounding, almost protecting him from the outside world, he calmly took the first one on top of his to-read pile and was about to start reading it when he heard a knock on the wooden door and it slowly opened, revealing their Ace runner.
“Sorry if I’m bothering you, but I just wanted to tell you that I meant it earlier, you know.”
Akane could only shyly nod in response, but Kakeru didn’t leave like he expected him to. Instead, the dark-haired boy just stood awkwardly at the entrance, eyes looking around the room at such an alarming pace that the second year would have thought that the runner had never seen it before. It’s only when he blushed that Akane realised the other boy was avoiding his gaze.
Cute.
“You...uh… you didn’t tell me what you wanted. I told you I would take responsibility.”
Oh.
Akane smiled at the endearing display and made a show of thinking about it.
“Hmmm, let me see… Well I’d feel bad asking you for anything pricy. You might be more experienced in running but I’m still older than you.”
“But I told you I was willing to.”
“No can do, sorry.”
Kakeru looked visibly disappointed and he had to fight the laugh that menaced to ruin his plans.
“Then since that’s out of question. Would you stay with me ?”
Dark eyes widened, finally staring straight at him.
“Stay, please.”
Kakeru slowly nodded as a blush took over and he stepped in, closing the door behind him.
