Re: Team Huddle
Re: Team Huddle
Below are a list of changes made during halftime based both on mod experiences, and feedback given during Team Huddle.
Main Rounds and AO3 Posting
We know that many of you were interested in posting you’re main rounds on AO3, instead of trying to get Dreamwidth formatting to cooperate for you! This will now be an option for Main Round 2!
Main Round 2 entries can be submitted to a mod-moderated AO3 collection that will be set to “unrevealed” until the Main Round reveal date. For more information and links to the collection, scroll to the bottom of the Main Round Posting Guide.
(If your team would like to utilize AO3 posting for your main round entry, and no one on your team has an AO3 account, please contact the mods, and we can set you up with an invitation).
Remix Round
The Remix Round will be extended be extended until August 28th at 11:59PM (23:59) PT. This will give you a few days to focus solely on the remix round! (This also means that the party and results week has been pushed back until the first week of September to allow time for scoring).
Both the text calendar and visual calendar have been updated to reflect this change.
Organization Issues
We realize that there were quite a few organizational issues regarding the first half of the event. These included posts going up late, not including all the necessary information, and a lack of cross-platform communication.
For the second half of the event, we are planning further in advance and have gotten ahead on all SportsFest documents.
Part of our difficulty staying ahead was due to being short-staffed, as well as some unexpected IRL responsibilities that kept some mods from contributing to mod work. To prevent this from interfering with our ability to perform our duties in the second half of the event, we are considering expanding our mod team. We will let you know as soon as we have made any final decisions.
All mods will endeavor to respond to DMs within 24 hours. In the event that a mod does not respond to you within 24 hours, please DM another mod so we can make sure your issue gets dealt with in a timely manner. In addition, you may use all-mod communication methods such as the mod email, mod dreamwidth, or #office channel of the event discord.
We’re also starting to convert many of our responses in the #office channel on Discord into an FAQ on Dreamwidth. This FAQ will be linked in the header post, under the Resources tab, once finished.
Edits are also being made to information pages on the SportsFest Dreamwidth to fix broken links and update with necessary changes.
Mod Conduct
It’s important that mods maintain a standard of professionalism and impartiality in their behavior in public event spaces. We were not upholding these standards as consistently as we should have been. We've enacted a new set of mod behavior policies to ensure that the behavior of all mods is conducive to a drama-free SportsFest environment.
Mods will not bring any of their personal drama to event platforms. Even though the discord server can sometimes serve as a vent space for participants, mods need to maintain a little more distance and professionalism.
Mods will not engage in discourse. As mods, we need to keep the server space welcoming to people on all sides of different polarizing issues, and although everyone is entitled to their opinion, mods need to stay neutral parties.
Mods will keep their mod hats on at all times in the #office channel.
In addition, mod will continue to be held accountable to the event’s Participant Guidelines, just like all participants of the event.
Medal Thresholds
We’ve changed the recommended workload for several categories in Sportsfest! With your feedback, we realized that our thresholds were set a little too high to be manageable, so we’ve made some changes:
Bonus Round Fills: The new recommended workload is 12 fills per member for Gold, 8 fills per member for Silver, and 4 fills per member for Bronze.
Remix Round Fills: The new recommended workload is 6 fills per member for Gold, 4 fills per member for Silver, and 2 fills per member for Bronze.
Rec Round Fills: The new recommended workload is 5 fills per member for Gold, 3 fills per member for Silver, and 1 fill per member for Bronze. (Any additional fills will count as bonus points up to 10n fills, where n is the number of team members).
We’re NOT changing how each category is scored, just the workload required to reach each medal threshold (e.g. you’ll be getting the same amount of points for the work you do, but it will take less points to get each medal!)
Both the scoring Dreamwidth post and the medal status spreadsheet have been updated to reflect these changes.
Team Switching and Points
Medal Thresholds will be calculated by the smallest number of members that a team has had (e.g if a 6-person team loses two members during halftime, they will use the 4-person threshold. While if a 6-person team gains 2 members at halftime, they will still use the 6-person threshold).

We reopened fandom nominations, and several more sports animanga qualified during Halftime. Please welcome the following franchises to Sportsfest!:
