Bonus Round 2: Quotes
Bonus Round 2: Quotes
Sometimes you just have to keep with tradition! Keeping with the SASO roots that SportsFest was born from, Bonus Round 2 is all about quotes.
This bonus round will close on July 13th, 2018 11:59PM PT. [COUNTDOWN]
This Round is CLOSED, but is perpetually open for new FILLS.
Rules
The Rule of Thumb for this round is prominence - did a published author or poet write this line you’d like to quote? Great. Is it from a speech or a historical document? Cool. Did your friend say something funny on twitter the other day? Not so much.
Please DO NOT prompt screenshots of private conversations, Discord convos, or conversations between you and your friends. This can easily and unintentionally bring the prompts into inside joke territory, and can create an exclusionary environment.
Quotes from other SportsFest participants (or yourself) are NOT allowed in this round (for similar reasons to above, and the fact that you could just make anything a quote).
Please give credit to the original speaker of your quote whenever possible.
If prompting with a screenshot, it is polite to post a transcription of the text below the image for accessibility.
Please use your best judgement, and if you’re unsure if something qualifies - ask! The mods are here to help.
And to reiterate, Your prompt MUST include one or more specific nominated fandoms. Please do not prompt "Fandom: Any".
A Few Examples:
“Today is far from Childhood -
But up and down the hills
I held her hand the tighter -
Which shortened all the miles-
- Emily Dickinson, ‘One Sister Have I In Our House’
“Til this moment I never knew myself”
- Elizabeth Bennett, Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice
“SHE DOESN’T EVEN GO HERE!
- Damian, Mean Girls
“It's a quarter past midnight
As we cut through the city”
- Quarter Past Midnight, Bastille
If Prompting

NSFW Prompts
EXPLICITLY NSFW PROMPTS must be posted to the after-hours comm. “Explicitly NSFW” means that the prompt includes outright sexual content (whether in a photograph, drawing, or in words), and prompts that in the additional requests are asking for explicit fills. Prompts are posted with the same HTML format, in the same manner as a SFW prompt, just under the designated post for that Bonus Round in the after-hours comm. See ‘Filling’ for the procedures for NSFW Fills.
Once you have joined the Afterhours community, you can find the corresponding post HERE.

NSFW Fills
All NSFW fills must be posted in the corresponding Bonus Round post in the After Hours community. If filling a prompt that has been posted on the after-hours comm, simply reply to that prompt. If filling a SFW prompt, let the prompter know by replying to the original prompt on the main comm with a link to your fill on the corresponding after-hours Bonus Round Post. Please do not use the Fill subject line or Fill header when cross-linking. This will cause the BR scorer to count your fill twice.
Once you have joined the Afterhours community, you can find the corresponding post HERE.
Scoring
The scoring for bonus rounds depends on the number of people (n) on your team. You’re welcome to make as many prompts and fills as you like!
For prompts: 5 points per prompt, limited to 5 times the number of team members (5n)
For fills, where (n) = number of members on you team:
First 5n fills: 20 points each
Fills 5n to 10n: 10 points each
Fills 10n to 15n: 5 points each
All fills after 15n: 2 points each
Confused? Don’t worry; math is hard. Check out the Bonus Round Point Widget to help you figure out the point scale for your team.

The sword sang as it slid across its enemy. The screech was deafening, but Satsuki remained unmoved, not even flinching at the assault on her ears. A terrible noise was the least of her problems anyway. She was far more concerned with the man that bore down on her, sword in hand. She knew better than to fully parry a blade wielded by a male over a foot taller than she was, not to mention broader. That kind of clash wasn’t in her favor, nor was it really her style. Her shorter blade was meant for agility, and she demonstrated it then by dancing out from under his advancing sword, spinning neatly around him and stabbing her blade at his middle.
But her enemy was a master as well and got his sword down to block the attack. Satsuki shifted away, moving like the wind, trying to keep her body between his and the slumped over form behind her.
Her enemy looked pained, his golden eyes grieved and pleading. “I doesn’t have to be like this, Momocchi,” he said, breath coming on pants.
Satsuki eyed him cooly. “Doesn’t it?”
“If he’d just listened, just signed the treaty, Akashicchi wouldn’t have had to retaliate,” the tall blond insisted. “None of this violence or blood would have been necessary!”
Lifting her short sword, Satsuki darted forward, engaging him once more. “Daiki made the best choice for his people. That treaty would have meant suffering and starvation for Too, not to mention the cost of life. What kind of prince could allow that, Kise?” She shot back, voice derisive as she struck in short bursts of movement that had him scrambling.
“The kind that weight the costs of the treaty with the costs of a war with Rakuzan and its allies!”
“You mean its slaves.” There was no mistaking the disgust in her eyes, or what she thought of him for selling out his longtime friend and ally. “The Empire doesn’t have allies, it has peons. Like you.”
Kise sucked in a deep breath and swung wildly, which gave her the opening she needed to land a blow to his side. He hissed and pulled back, wincing as he placed a hand over the shallow wound. “Well, what kind of prince let’s his princess fight his battles anyway? Come away with me, Momocchi. Leave Aominecchi to his fate and come with me. Kaijou can protect you – I can protect you.”
Satsuki’s gaze hardened and her lips curled as she attacked with renewed vigor. “I don’t need protection, and I am proud to protect my prince, and to protect Too.” For a moment, as her blade found the tiny crevice where his shoulder armor attached to his chest armor and slid through, impaling him through the shoulder, her expression broke into sadness. “I didn’t want it to be this way, Ki-chan,” she said softly, putting her weight behind her blade, regardless of the pain and shock that washed over his face. “But you turned your back on us, on Daiki. You made your choice, and so have I.”
She yanked the blade free, sending Kise reeling back as blood poured from his wounds. He stared at her for one long moment before turning his heartbroken eyes to the form behind her. “I am sorry,” he croaked. Then, he turned and stumbled away, grabbing at his nearby horse and escaping.
Satsuki immediately turned and closed the distance between her and her fallen prince. “Dai-chan,” she breathed, worry racing through her veins as she fell to her knees beside him. She managed to get him up, cradled against her chest and arm so she could brush the fingers of her free hand through his hair. He had taken a blow to the head and hadn’t woken up since, and she was worried. They couldn’t stay there, he had to call the retreat…
The body in her arms jerked, huffing in a low hollow laugh. “He’s right,” Aomine muttered, opening his eyes and flinching at the pain in his head. “It should be me protecting you.”
“Daiki,” Satsuki said softly, cupping his jaw and drawing his face up to hers. “I have been made to protect you.” Her words were a promise, whispered, but strong and she sealed them by touching her lips to his. “Only in death will I be kept from this oath.”
“Satsuki…” Aomine growled, reaching up to run his shaking fingers along her face. “I’m proud to have you beside me.” He took a deep breath and forced her forehead against his, ignoring how sticky and dirty they both were. “Let’s destroy them together.”
Satsuki’s lips quirked. For him, that was as good as I love you. “We’ll protect Too together. Forever”
