If filling a prompt that has been posted on the after-hours comm, simply reply to that prompt. If filling a SFW prompt, let the prompter know by replying to the original prompt on the main comm with a link to your fill on the corresponding after-hours Bonus Round Post. Please DO NOT use the Fill subject line or Fill header when cross-linking. This will cause the BR scorer to count your fill twice.

Scoring

The scoring for bonus rounds depends on the number of people (n) on your team. You’re welcome to make as many prompts and fills as you like!

For prompts: 5 points per prompt, limited to 5 times the number of team members (5n)

For fills, where (n) = number of members on you team:

  • First 5n fills: 20 points each
  • Fills 5n to 10n: 10 points each
  • Fills 10n to 15n: 5 points each
  • All fills after 15n: 2 points each

Confused? Don’t worry; math is hard. Check out the Bonus Round Point Widget to help you figure out the point scale for your team.

All scored content must be created new for this round.

Additional Information

If you're hunting through the prompts looking for what to fill, a good trick is to view top-level comments only (see the line of links below this post). We’ll also have a prompt/fill database up and running soon that will help you filter through BR posts.

A Tip: We all want SportsFest to be a fun and safe environment. If you notice someone has made a mistake in their required tagging, or any other html or rules related aspect of their comment, do let them know, message them privately rather than replying - if you reply, they can’t edit the comment! If you aren’t comfortable letting the commenter know directly, contact a mod and we will make sure they update the required tags.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact a mod.

Thank you, this was a beautiful prompt and when I googled the location, the words just flowed out of me. Also, I'm 98% sure this was not the direction you envisioned but ... twins....

***

Perhaps it’s because they’re twins, but perhaps it’s because he knows Atsumu well, that he realises. That one day Osamu wakes up and he knows Atsumu is hurt somewhere, in there. He doesn’t say anything, but he watches Atsumu excuse himself at breakfast to scurry to the bathroom, and places a glass of water outside the door once he hears the retching. He is told nothing, but understands that the dark circles under Atsumu’s eyes mean something and that the sickly paleness of his face means that god is cruel, to have designed a disease that inflicts pain upon the pained in the most beautiful, heartbreaking way.

When Osamu wakes up one Saturday, Atsumu is not there. Their mother does not comment on it, but Osamu knows this absence is abnormal. Atsumu is not out. He’s gone.

When Osamu walks over to Atsumu’s bed, there’s a spot of bright blood on his pillow, and a hydrangea wilting in the sheets. When he plucks it off, it leaves faint pink pressed into white.

Perhaps it’s because they’re twins, that Osamu knows. But perhaps its because he knows Atsumu well — knows that Atsumu would chase the most excruciating irony, choose the most unattainable boy.

So Osamu catches a train to Ueno, then to Katsuta, then changes to the Minato line and rides the empty carriage to the last station.

He almost laughs when he steps off the platform.

He’s surrounded by flowers, hills upon rolling hills of baby blue-eyes and tulips and daffodils. The Hitachi Seaside Park has ten million flowers and one boy who cannot stop breathing hydrangeas.

When he finds Atsumu, it’s nine in the afternoon. The sky is the same shade as the ground and on the horizon, a weak ferris wheel turns like a child’s windmill. A wind rises, and a pink petal smears his cheek. Atsumu is on the ground, eyes upwards, lying still amidst a bed of hydrangeas.

They don’t grow hydrangeas here.

Perhaps its because he’s a twin, that Osamu picks the petal off his cheek, and places it in his mouth.

It tastes like blood and nothing else. When he swallows, he feels it scrape against the back of his mouth and down his throat. It settles somewhere near his heart but he feels it in his lungs.

He steps closer and sits down next to Atsumu. The petals are soft beneath his knees and they flood his nose with their perfume. It smells like bygone summers and bleached hair and something carved out of Atsumu’s soul. Suddenly, Osamu thinks of kitsune soba and inari sushi and fried tofu.

Atsumu doesn’t stir when he scoops up another pink flower with his fingers and pushes it inside his mouth. When he tries to swallow, he finds his mouth is dry. So he grinds them with his molars and the juice runs bitter and tart, stinging his tongue. But he is able to swallow and feel it sink into his lungs.

The more he eats, the more he feels like he’s drowning, like he’s being punished for each breath that he takes, like he doesn’t deserve to breathe. It tastes like second glances and deleted messages and feels like a monster that will feast on you from the inside.

Osamu chokes and gags and his stomach starts to heave but then his hands fly to his mouth and he clenches his jaw shut. He tastes blood and he knows it is his own. He thinks of the pudding tucked behind the carrots in the fridge, fourth-grade fights and —

Atsumu stirs.

Osamu breath hitches and before he could stop it, something bubbles inside his throat and he is retching, gasping, gasping. When he opens his eyes, his lap is filled with fresh, purple hydrangeas.

He pushes them aside and leans forward, searching Atsumu’s face for any sign. It’s the same as always, stock still and cold. It’s the same as his own. But the dark circles are lighter, and his skin seems healthier.

With shaking hands, Osamu raises another handful to his lips.

It’s because he’s Atsmu’s twin, that he wants to be there when he wakes up and be able to say —

I know how you feel.
