After joining, you will be able to access the AfterHours BR1 post.

“Explicitly NSFW” means that the prompt includes outright sexual content (whether in a photograph, drawing, or in words), and prompts that in the additional requests are asking for explicit fills. Prompts are posted with the same HTML format, in the same manner as a SFW prompt, just under the designated post for that Bonus Round in the After-Hours comm. See ‘Filling’ for the procedures for NSFW Fills.

After joining, you will be able to access the AfterHours BR1 post.

If filling a prompt that has been posted on the after-hours comm, simply reply to that prompt. If filling a SFW prompt, let the prompter know by replying to the original prompt on the main comm with a link to your fill on the corresponding after-hours Bonus Round Post. Please DO NOT use the Fill subject line or Fill header when cross-linking. This will cause the BR scorer to count your fill twice.

Scoring

The scoring for bonus rounds depends on the number of people (n) on your team. You’re welcome to make as many prompts and fills as you like!

For prompts: 5 points per prompt, limited to 5 times the number of team members (5n)

For fills, where (n) = number of members on you team:

  • First 5n fills: 20 points each
  • Fills 5n to 10n: 10 points each
  • Fills 10n to 15n: 5 points each
  • All fills after 15n: 2 points each

Confused? Don’t worry; math is hard. Check out the Bonus Round Point Widget to help you figure out the point scale for your team.

All scored content must be created new for this round.

Additional Information

If you're hunting through the prompts looking for what to fill, a good trick is to view top-level comments only (see the line of links below this post). We’ll also have a prompt/fill database up and running soon that will help you filter through BR posts.

A Tip: We all want SportsFest to be a fun and safe environment. If you notice someone has made a mistake in their required tagging, or any other html or rules related aspect of their comment, do let them know, message them privately rather than replying - if you reply, they can’t edit the comment! If you aren’t comfortable letting the commenter know directly, contact a mod and we will make sure they update the required tags.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact a mod.

Ship/Character: Miyuki/Shunshin
Fandom: Daiya no Ace
Major Tags: none
Other Tags: future fic, past relationship
Word Count: 1328
Remix Permission: case by case

The corners of Miyuki’s mouth climb upward as he spots the one person he’s looking for amongst the throng of people outside the stadium. After all, it isn’t hard to find someone who’s a head taller than everyone else around him.

It doesn’t take long for his quarry to spot him in kind, and when they finally meet in the midst of the crush, Shunshin extends a hand and offers a wide smile. “It’s good to see you, Kazuya.”

“Thanks for coming.” Miyuki grins when he feels the strength in Shunshin’s grip. It’s been twenty years since they first met, and the guy is just as strong as he was when Miyuki saw him throw for the first time.

Shunshin turns toward the stadium and hums. “I still can’t figure out why someone would name a baseball team after a fish.”

A belly laugh gushes from Miyuki before he can stop it. Leaning over, he wheezes for breath. “Oh, I’ve missed you.” Out of the corner of his eye, he sees the faint hint of a blush on Shunshin’s cheeks.

The sight comforts him. It’s nice to know that after fifteen years of being split up, indifference hasn’t set in.

“Let’s go. They gave me great seats.” Miyuki fishes the tickets out of his pocket and hands them over to Shunshin. “Best seats in the house.”

Shunshin scans them and nods. “They are.” He chortles and hands them back over. “I suppose you’ll feel at home there. You always were at your best behind home plate.”

Miyuki shrugs. “Well, I am retired. The club is sending me off in style, I guess.”

“So it seems.”

The two of them enter the stadium and enjoy an escort from their very own usher, assigned to cater to MIyuki’s every whim at the game where they honor him for being the heart of the Hiroshima Toyo Carp organization for over a decade. At least that’s what they tell Miyuki. He had just wanted to play baseball.

From the first pitch, however, Miyuki can't escape the difference between this game and every other one he's taken in since he was eight. His hands no longer itch for the leather of a catcher's mitt to swallow his hand, for the feeling of his fingers wrapped around a bat.

"You're different," Shunshin observes once the game winds down, turning to raise a brow at Miyuki. "You don't look like you're backseat driving."

Miyuki nods. "I can't explain it. I just wanted to watch the game."

Shunshin pats Miyuki's knee and gives him a look he hasn't seen for a long time. Namely, a look Shunshin had had when they'd broken up. Or, rather, when Shunshin had broken up with him. Miyuki had asked why and hence the look. He thinks he might understand it a little better now.

The other spectators in the section have all filtered out, leaving them alone. Miyuki is grateful for the lack of an audience for what he's about to say. What he's needed to say for a long time.

Leaning forward, Miyuki stares unseeing out onto the field while the groundskeepers rake the dirt in the infield. "I'm sorry, you know. I've never been good at feelings. Mine or anyone else's."

"I know." Shunshin mirrors Miyuki's pose and sighs. "I always knew. I just let the good parts keep me from seeing the rest of you."

Miyuki flinches at that comment. "That's harsh. True, but harsh."

"I was never going to work." Shunshin's shoulders slump, and the sight makes Miyuki's belly clench uncomfortably. "You don't feel things like other people do. We haven't seen each other in years, and you pick up where we left off without batting an eye."

Denial doesn't even threaten to cross Miyuki's tongue. He's not proud of that aspect of his personality, but after a lot of soul-searching and coming home to an empty apartment for years, he's acutely aware of it. "I don't know how to fix that," he admits.

"I know that, too." Shunshin's fingers drum on his thighs until they slap down loud enough for Miyuki to jump. "You didn't even realize how hard it was to spend a few months with you and then watch you leave without looking back. Just like you don't realize the reason why you're finally at peace with not playing anymore is because you got to leave on your terms.

"You never really understood why I couldn't do it anymore because you were fine with the way things were." Shunshin glances over and gives Miyuki a tight smile. "I needed to do it for me."

Miyuki gazes into Shunshin's familiar dark eyes. There was still that glitter of intelligence and perception, but the creasing around them and the empty ring finger tells Miyuki that their parting had been a double-edged sword.

Guilt gnaws in his gut. He had loved Shunshin since that first season spent in Taipei playing winter ball and being put up by the Yáng family. They had slept in the same room, had shared dinner and strategies and then a few other things after a while.

After a while, Miyuki wonders why Shunshin had accepted his invitation at all, and he isn't entirely sure why he had extended it in the first place. While he has no friends to speak of from his adulthood, Miyuki maintains civil enough contact with his old Seidou teammates. Kuramochi would have accepted, as would have many others.

But at the thought of sending off the career that had cost him only person he's ever loved, Miyuki couldn't imagine doing that with anyone else.

"Why didn't you tell me to go to hell when I asked you to come?" he blurts.

"Curiosity." Shunshin gives him a wry smile. "And I miss you."

"Shun, I —" Miyuki's words die on his tongue; he doesn't think he had any idea what to say in the first place.

"I know, Kazuya." Shunshin's hand slides over Miyuki's and gives it a gentle squeeze. "I don't want anything from you that you're not ready to give. And since you're not good with catching on to other people's feelings, I figured I'd have to tell you outright."

Miyuki blinks. "Tell me what?"

Shunshin chuckles as he cups Miyuki's cheeks and feathers a kiss to his lips. Their foreheads rest together, and Miyuki reels under the weight of the gift he's been given. "Yes," he breathes.

"Yes, you understand what I'm trying to tell you, or yes, you're finally in a place where you can accept it?" Shunshin raises a brow and sits back in his seat. "The pitch left the mound, Miyuki."

He doesn't hesitate for a moment. "Strike." Miyuki leans in to snare a longer, deeper kiss. They meld together like it's been hours and not years since they have given in to one another.

They're both breathless when Miyuki drops back into his seat. He throws back his head and laughs. He wipes tears from his eyes and leans into Shunshin's shoulder. "Oh, I missed you."

Shunshin lists into Miyuki's side, as well, and hums, his eyes fluttering shut behind the lenses of his stylish glasses. "I'm glad we're clear."

"We are." Miyuki sighs and asks, "Could I interest you in dinner at a place where the most nutritional thing on the menu is a bloody mary?"

"Perhaps." Shunshin stands and extends an arm. "Your treat, I take it?"

"I think I can swing that." Miyuki accepts the proffered elbow and tugs them into motion. "So you're staying in Japan?"

"I am."

"And you do mean you want to stay here with me in particular, right?"

"You're getting better at this."

Even as Shunshin says the words, he's smiling. It's the smile Miyuki remembers. The one Shunshin used to give him before Miyuki had squashed it out of him.

He doesn't know why or how he is getting a second chance, but this time, he plans on getting it right.

oh what a pleasant surprise you picked shunshin! this poor, underloved chara.

this is a little wistful, but i like the banter that comes easily for these two that have History— and then bits about how they as individuals couldn't quite fit together before, but maybe they can try again this time :''')

miyuki who cared so much about baseball retiring, and on his own terms o(-( this made me feel things, thank you!
