Eijun takes the soda Haruichi offers him with a bright grin and turns to look at their crowded living room.

The after-party began a while ago, but the band members only got here just now, having needed to put their instruments away and change into less sweaty clothing after that night’s concert.

It looks like most of the usual crowd is here, and Eijun notices a few new people, grinning excitedly, the adrenalin from the stage still pumping through his veins. He spots Kuraomchi next to Ryousuke, Haruichi’s older brother, which means that someone else should be here t-

“Hey Yamamura~ I’ve been wondering, are you as loud in the bedroom as you are on stage?”

Eijun grits his teeth at the irritating voice, pivoting on his feet to point a finger at the cocky bastard leaning against the wall next to him, all handsome features and infuriating smirks,

“Miyuki Kazuya!” He practically explodes, “It’s Sawamura! Sa-wa-mu-ra! How do you keep getting it wrong, you asshole!?” Eijun seethes, glaring daggers at the man as he laughs.

Eijun has known him about five months now, ever since Kuramochi had dragged his high school acquaintance along to one of their band’s after-parties.

It has been five months of slow torture for one Sawamura Eijun, because Miyuki ‘cooler than you’ Kazuya took one look at him and decided to make his life a living hell.

Not that Miyuki is probably aware of this fact. No, the bastard just sees Eijun once or twice a month and spends part of the night teasing and flirting with him to rile him up. The asshole can’t even be bothered to get his name right!! But Eijun is a fool, and he’s been falling for Miyuki Kazuya and his tacky flirting and boyish grins, and can’t get him out of his mind.

“Sure sure,” Miyuki waves him off once he’s finished laughing, grinning at Eijun’s enraged face and stepping closer. Eijun stands his ground, even when they’re toe to toe.

It’s when Miyuki’s grin turns into a smirk -infuriating and annoying and definitely not incredibly handsome and distracting- and the man leans in, tilting his head just so, that Eijun caves and leans back, away from him, cheeks flushing as he keeps his glare up,

“What d’you want, asshole?” Eijun asks loudly, not caring if Miyuki could probably hear him if he whispered, even in the crowded space.

“What, I can’t even greet my cute host? How mean, Muramata~!” Miyuki grins and Eijun is about to throttle the bastard and tattoo his name on that pretty face of his when someone calls Miyuki’s name, prompting the both of them to look over, “Ah, looks like I’m in high demand again~ Well, see you, Bakamura!”

And with that, he’s gone. Out of Eijun’s personal space and sauntering away with the air of someone who’s very much aware of the way he looks.

Eijun seethes. He hates him. He hates Miyuki Kazuya and his gorgeous face and tacky flirting and distracting smirk.

But most of all, he hates that it works on him.

Originally, Eijun had thought he could write a song to get his own back; did so after their second meeting. That plan had backfired two months ago when he’d finally convinced his group-mates to add the song to the set-list, and Miyuki had been absolutely insufferable afterward, asking him who the song was about, and who he had to fight to win Eijun over from them, knowing full-well it was about him.

Haruichi, bless the demon in angel’s clothes, had encouraged him to be honest; after all, Eijun wears his heart on his sleeve, so why should he do differently with Miyuki?

Oh, the suffering that had induced. Eijun still can’t see a banana without blushing. Which is highly inconvenient considering he eats a lot of them.

No, there’s nothing that Eijun can do other than grit his teeth and glare and shout, because Miyuki Kazuya is insufferable and fun to be around even with the asshole exterior, and there’s nothing the singer can do to get the man out of his head.

He counts his blessings as Miyuki proceeds to ignore him for the rest of the evening -the winks he shoots at him every time their gazes meet do not count, thank you very much. Eijun refuses to acknowledge the flirting more than he has to, unable to respond in kind, tripping over his words whenever he tries. And all in all the after-party is fun and Eijun laughs and jokes and dances.

Until he decides he’s thirsty and goes to fetch himself another soda from the kitchen, and spots Haruichi leaning against the counter, looking obviously uncomfortable as another man almost boxes him in against it.

Before he even has time to do more than open his mouth to shout at the stranger, Miyuki is sidling up next to them and offering an icy smile to the man bothering Haruichi, putting a threatening hand on his shoulder.

Eijun watches the man flinch at the grip before he glares and backs away, turning to return to the party.

Oh no he doesn’t.

“Hey! Let me walk you to the door!” He cheers, smile stiff,

“What? No? I wasn’t leaving!” The man answers. Up close, Eijun notices just how much taller he is than him, but it’s not about to deter him as he smiles wider,

“Oh! Sure, I can take you to see onii-san then! He’ll show you out much better than I could!” And he turns to start looking for their drummer,

“Onii-san?” The man asks, bewildered, and Eijun shoots him his best winning smile over his shoulder,

“Yeah! Kominato Ryousuke! You know, Harucchi’s older brother!” The way the man chokes on air is satisfying, but not as much as the way he almost trips over himself as he starts towards the exit,

“Aha! Right! Well no- you know I’d best get going, you’re right. It’s getting late! See you!” And he’s practically running from the party and towards the front door.

Heh. Serves him right.

“You know,” Eijun jumps out of his skin as Haruichi appears next to him, “You and Miyuki-san are a lot more similar than I thought,” His best friend and bassist muses,

“Harucchi!” He yells, clutching at his heart, “Don’t scare me like that! And what do you mean we’re similar!? We’re nothing alike! Don’t compare me to that bastard!”

No, Eijun really doesn’t need another reason to fall for Miyuki Kazuya. It’s bad enough that he just witnessed him being an actually decent human being, never mind Haruichi -one of the most observant people he knows- comparing them.

“Mhm, if you say so,” The bassist answers mildly, looking out to the crowd, “He went out on the balcony, in case you’re looking for him,” He adds. And Eijun bristles,

“Who cares about Miyuki Kazuya!? More importantly, are you okay!?” He knows Haruichi is perfectly capable of defending himself, but he’s been on the receiving end of enough of Miyuki Kazuya’s flirting to know it’s a little rattling when someone invades your personal space. He can only imagine how much worse it must be when it’s unwanted.

“I’m fine Eijun-kun,” Haruichi reassures with a smile, “Don’t worry about me.”

But Eijun does worry, fusses over Haruichi until his older brother appears out of seemingly no where, and Eijun scarpers before he can get caught in another headlock by Kuramochi; he gets to be the man’s guinea pig for his wrestling moves enough as it is whenever he comes to watch their band practice thank you very much.

Next thing he knows he’s opening the balcony door and closing it behind him, letting out a long sigh and hoping no one thinks to check for him here as he slides down to sit against the wall next to the door,

“Oh? Fancy seeing you here~”

Eijun twitches and turns to glare at the origin of the voice, cheeks heating when he notices that he’s just sat himself right next to none other than Miyuki Kazuya, almost close enough to touch.

He briefly remembers Haruichi telling him this is where the man had gone, but had completely forgotten in his fussing…

“I live here Miyuki Kazuya! Of course you’ll see me here!” He yells, catching the way Miyuki frowns and he rubs at his eyes behind his glasses, the dim lighting hiding the rest of his features,

“Keep it down would you…? It’s just us out here,”

“I’m not going to use my inside voice when we’re outside!” Eijun retorts huffily, and Miyuki bursts into laughter, making the singer glare at him again, but he stays silent, unwilling to give the man any more ammunition to laugh at him.

Miyuki quiets and wipes his eyes, resting back against the wall and closing his eyes, a grin on his handsome face.

“You’re staring, Wawamura,” Miyuki whispers after a moment, and Eijun barely even reacts, even if his eyes narrow angrily at the name,

“…Thanks,” He answers instead, looking out to the view of the city through the railing, catching the way Miyuki shifts from the corner of his eye,

“No need to thank me for being a decent human being,” He answers slowly. Eijun looks down at his lap with a frown,

“Not everyone would have done what you did. Just accept that I’m trying to thank you, asshole…”

“Okay then,” Miyuki answers quietly, letting the silence fall between them. Eijun doesn’t add to it, and shifts to get more comfortable as he closes his eyes, actually enjoying the quiet.

Miyuki shifts as well, and Eijun feels warm where their thighs touch.

Neither of them moves, neither of them speaks.

Eijun almost thinks they’re making progress, and allows a little hope to swell in his heart.
