Yōichi really shouldn’t have been surprised to find out that the whole thing was actually very well established. He was given the fucking written rules. A laminated sheet of paper where the rules were written. They had both signed the rules and they even been fucking notified by their parents and their family stamp. If he hadn’t written the title, Yōichi could have been fooled into thinking it was an official, legal document.

“Is… Is that the rules ?”

“Yes.”

“The latest updated version at least.”

Both brothers were sitting on their zabuton and selecting their Mario Kart character. The shortstop turned to the pitcher who was already dozing off on the couch, seemingly completely oblivious to the raging battle currently happening right in front of his eyes between their boyfriend.

“Hey, Furuya.”

He shook the boy awake who sat up.

“Have you seen this ?”

He shoved the piece of paper on his face and he instinctively leaned back, frowning as he looked at it.

“Oh, that’s a neat job.”

A neat job ?”

He shot him a sleepy look.

“Well, yeah, it’s well made. I wouldn’t expect anything less from the Kominato family.”

Yōichi clicked his tongue.

“You don’t think that’s weird !?”

He shrugged.

“Not really… I mean, they fight, no ? They need a way to settle their arguments that they both would accept and their parents travel a lot for work.”

Yōichi plopped down on the couch next to Furuya as the familiar Mario Kart sounds resonated in the room.

“And they’re both stupidly good at video games… But why is there a copy of them in our flat !?”

“Oh, no. I think Haruichi took them with him before coming here today.”

“Say what ?”

“Well, I’m not sure but he said he had something important to take with him so we met at the train station. So maybe that was that ?”

He slid his hand down his face.

“Jeez, these brothers. It was all planned from the beginning.”

“Haruichi had been talking about how his brother would never leave us alone and that drastic measures had to be taken.”

“What the actual fuck, he sounds like a murderer.”

“I think that’s hot.”

Yōichi was just about to call him out on it when the sound of the race ending came from the speakers, and when they looked, Ryōsuke was smiling dangerously at his brother.

“You might have won this time, but this is not over. You will break up with this slob tonight.”

“Well, Brother. It’s your turn to choose the circuit. Maybe you will win this time now that you’ll have the advantage of the road.”

The cackle that came out of the older Kominato was downright terrifying.

“You’re on, Haruichi.”

The sounds of a new, starting race came up again and Furuya turned to shoot him a knowing look, daring him to contradict his last statement. Yōichi could only sigh in defeat.
