Bonus Round 3: AU/UA

It is time to be transported in another world ! Is the destination a medieval fantasy ? A lost city in the stars ? Or is everyone looking oddly normal ? Let your imagination wander in the realms of alternate universes and universe alterations!

This bonus round will be open until Friday, August 2nd at 11:59 PT. (Countdown)

This round is now closed!

However, it is perpetually open to new fills!

Rules

  • Submit prompts by commenting any AU or UA idea of your choice.
AU stands for Alternate Universe. This is a broad trope that involves everything from placing the characters in wildly different settings to slightly adjusting key points.
UA stands for Universe Alteration, a subtype of AU. Its meaning is similar to canon divergence i.e settings that are mostly like canon expect a few points are changed.
You may suggest what role the characters have in said universe or let it to the filler's imagination.

    Example:
    • Harry Potter AU
    • Royalty AU where they're part of ennemy kingdoms
    • AU where Karasuno lost against Shiratorizawa
  • Prompts can be in any language as long as you provide an English translation!
  • Fill prompts by creating fanworks inspired by the setting.
  • You cannot fill your teammate's prompts or your own!
  • You must use the prompt/fill headers below, and you cannot leave any line blank nor delete lines!

  • 400 words (prose)

They probably passed like five monsters without realizing

***

It was Noya's idea, because he'd grown up with ghosts and monsters as creepy-cool stories instead of the threats of a big sister. Not that it took Ryuu long to get on board, not with Noya's hands on either side of his face, eyes blazing with determination, telling him that it was going to be so cool, Ryuu, we're gonna be famous.

So, here they were, tromping through unfamiliar woods in the middle of the night, Noya with a flashlight and Ryuu with Saeko's video camera. They made a lot of noise trying to be quiet, laughing and loudly telling each other to shh and tripping over branches because Noya's flashlight was too busy looking for monsters to look where they were going.

“Hey,” Ryuu said, as quietly as he could. “What kind of monster are we looking for, anyway?”

“A good one!” Noya replied, whirling around. The flashlight temporarily blinded Ryuu. “Whoops! Sorry, Ryuu.” He dropped his voice to a loud whisper. “We're in a forest at midnight-- there's gotta be some monsters here, right? We just need to get one on camera, and bam! Famous.”

Truthfully, Ryuu wasn't doing this for the fame; not entirely, at least. It could have been almost anything, if it meant being a part of something with Noya, seeing that shine in his eye, being alone together in the middle of the night. And from the way Noya seemed to be more interested in making Ryuu laugh than in searching for clues, and how he'd spent half the bus ride pretending to sleep on Ryuu's shoulder, it seemed like Noya wasn't entirely in it for the fame, either.

Although neither of them would say no to it, if they did happen to catch a monster on film.

They stumbled around for another hour. At one point Noya insisted he'd heard something, and they stopped and stood under the trees, barely breathing. Ryuu looked around for a sign of anything, leaving the camera trained on Noya's face, but all he saw was darkness. Then he yawned, and the spell was broken, and Noya punched him in the shoulder for 'scaring it off,' whatever it was.

“Next time,” Ryuu promised as they crawled into their tent to sleep. Noya beamed at him.

As they packed up their gear the next morning, neither of them noticed the odd tracks that ringed their tent.
