Rules

Submit prompts by commenting any AU or UA idea of your choice.
AU stands for Alternate Universe. This is a broad trope that involves everything from placing the characters in wildly different settings to slightly adjusting key points.
UA stands for Universe Alteration, a subtype of AU. Its meaning is similar to canon divergence i.e settings that are mostly like canon expect a few points are changed.
You may suggest what role the characters have in said universe or let it to the filler's imagination.

Prompts can be in any language as long as you provide an English translation!
Fill prompts by creating fanworks inspired by the setting.

I'm sorry, this might not have been the softness you had been waiting for but I loved the prompt and I love writing when they start getting closer so this was born. It's a bit short but I hope you still enjoy it.

Kakeru had never seen that many books in his life outside of a library, and he rarely exposed himself to such a sight, so when he opened the door of his new room for the next four years at his university, he thought that it would certainly make for a change. The books, as he realised later, were all very neatly and meticulously ordered despite being stacked in what little space his roommate, Kashiwazaki Akane had.

He never had many friends, but in an effort of establishing an agreeable atmosphere between them, Kakeru took a deep breath, gathering all his courage and spoke up to his older roommate while he had been in the middle of struggling to add his newest purchases.

“Kashiwazaki-senpai ?”

The fair boy jumped in surprise which in turn made him wince. It was true that they had rarely talked to each other in the two weeks since the beginning of the semester but even he thought that the response was a bit excessive. He waited until they made quick eye contact.

“If you want, you can use my book shelves.”

The uneasy look quickly brightened up.

“Are you sure ? You’re not going to use them ?”

Kakeru shook his head.

“No, it’s fine. I don’t own many books and I left them all in my bedroom back home. I only got my textbooks here and I’ll just leave them on my desk.”

He couldn’t help but feel surprised at how much he talked. There was certainly something about being in the presence of someone even more reserved and shy than him that made him more confident and kind, like his roommate was a little animal he could scare off with only one wrong word.

He sensed him hesitate for a few seconds before slowly walking to the other side, books in hand.

Kakeru slightly slid aside to put more distance between them and give him plenty of space to pass by him without fearing any kind of contact.

He stood there, looking around for anything to do before his eyes fell to his earphones and he decided to go for a run. He was almost at the door when his roommate called out to him.

“Kakeru ?”

He promptly turned back and was greeted by the sight of Kashiwazaki making his second trip to his side with arms full of books, eyes softening as he smiled timidly at him.

“Thank you.”
