Rules

Submit prompts by commenting any AU or UA idea of your choice.
AU stands for Alternate Universe. This is a broad trope that involves everything from placing the characters in wildly different settings to slightly adjusting key points.
UA stands for Universe Alteration, a subtype of AU. Its meaning is similar to canon divergence i.e settings that are mostly like canon expect a few points are changed.
You may suggest what role the characters have in said universe or let it to the filler's imagination.

Prompts can be in any language as long as you provide an English translation!
Fill prompts by creating fanworks inspired by the setting.

Chris took off his hat as he stepped inside the cigar shop. The bell overhead announcing his arrival. Everything in the store looked immaculate. The glass cases. The dark wood shelves. The boxes of cigars neatly stacked and displayed.

Though Chris always figured it was easy to keep it that way when no one ever came to buy cigars.

Not that he had ever been able to prove that.

“Well, well, if it isn’t Prohibition Agent Takigawa,” drawled a voice that Chris had come to know all too well.

Kazuya Miyuki. Owner and operator of Steel Cigars. A name that Chris always felt was mocking him. He wouldn’t put it past Kazuya to have the gumption.

Chris suspected the name harkened back to when they were kids. When Chris caught Kazuya palming bubble gum from his father’s corner store. Kazuya had taken off faster than Chris could grab him. Sticking his tongue out at him as he made his escape.

Kazuya had grown out of his rags and knobby knees and dirt-streaked cheeks. He had transformed himself into a man who wore impeccable three-piece suits and charming smiles.

And Chris wasn’t fooled in the least. Kazuya was still, in many ways, thumbing his nose at him.

If the rumors were true, and Chris had learned they always were, Kazuya had become a much better lawbreaker since they were kids.

“What do I owe the pleasure?” asked Kazuya smoothly. His voice dropping into a tone that was casual and...familiar. Usually, Chris would have rebuked him for it, but today was not a day for the usual.

Chris set his hat down on the counter. “Your best cigar, please.”

Kazuya looked surprised, but pleasantly so as he walked over to the case with the Cubans. He looked even more surprised when Chris took off his glen plaid patterned jacket, draping it carefully across the counter, before rolling up his sleeves past his elbows. It was all very shockingly informal.

“What’s the occasion?” asked Kazuya as he watched Chris lite the cigar.

Chris snuffed out the match on the ashtray that Kazuya pushed across the counter. “My retirement.”

“Oh?”

“Haven’t you heard?” asked Chris before took a puff. Tasting the smoke and fire on his tongue. “The 18th Amendment is being repealed.”

“You don’t say.” Kazuya smiled in a way that made Chris suspect he had already heard the news. “Sounds like you won’t have an excuse to come around anymore.”

“I don’t know about that,” murmured Chris in between puffs. “You’re not hiring by any chance?”

Kazuya quirked an eyebrow. “You want to work in a cigar shop?”

Chris felt his lips tip upward into a smile. “I always thought I’d make a good bartender.”

Kazuya threw back his head as he laughed. “This is a cause for celebration. You wait right here.”

Not that Chris has any intention to leave now that his interest was piqued. He smoked quietly by himself as Kazuya disappeared into the back room. He wasn’t gone long. Returning with two exquisitely cut glasses, one in each hand, and each containing--

“Mr. Miyuki, are you serving a Prohibition Agent whiskey?”

Chris couldn’t quite keep the amusement out of his voice as he accepted the glass and swirled it around in his hand.

“I won’t tell if you won’t tell, Agent Takigawa,” replied Kazuya as he lifted his own glass. “Cheers.”

Chris shook his head as he clinked their glasses against each other. “Cheers.”

I hope you can hear me screeching, this is amazeballs! I love that they're on the opposite sides of the law, I love how slick Miyuki is, and I can totally imagine Chris sliding in with that deep voice of his and his rolled-up sleeves. Thank you for this fill!
