Bonus Round 4: Caps
Bonus Round 4: Caps
Got a favorite scene from a manga, TV show, webcomic, movie, anime, etc.? Time to pull out your screencaps, manga caps, or comic caps to prompt something fun!
This bonus round will close on August 17th, 2018 11:59PM PT (23:59 PT). [COUNTDOWN]
This Round is CLOSED. It is perpetually open for new fills.
Rules
For this round, you may prompt any cap from any original video- or comic-based narrative. This includes anime, manga, cartoons, TV shows, movies, music videos, Western comics, webcomics, web series, and even documentaries. Narrative-related game screencaps are permitted. For example, you can post a cap of character dialogue, or a cap from a cutscene, but not a screenshot of a character wandering the in-game map or fighting a randomly-generated monster.
Upload the caps somewhere (such as Imgur, PostImage, or TinyPic) and post here with the images themselves or a link to them.
You may also use officially released art from qualifying sports animanga.
You can post up to three caps per prompt.
You are required to provide the name of your cap’s source media. For free online media like webcomics and webseries, we also encourage you to provide a link to the source material. If linking, please warn for content of the source, as applicable.
Please do not prompt caps from any fanworks. We want to respect fanworkers’ control over where their work is posted.
For video-based media, including subtitles in your cap is optional. That said, please do not include fake subtitles. (Please do not post GIFs)
We recommend linking to significant spoilers rather than directly posting them, as if you're posting a NSFW cap (replace the image code in the textarea with a link). However, this will not be enforced by the mod team and it is up to your discretion to decide what qualifies as a significant spoiler or not, considering that the caps are largely out of context.
Including descriptive text for caps is encouraged, but not required. If you do choose to include it, please include the text below the prompt image.
If you're not sure if a given media series cap qualifies, please feel free to ask!
General Rule Reminders
Remember that your header must ALWAYS include AT LEAST one fandom in the “fandom” section. Prompts that write “any” in the fandom section will not be counted for points.
All prompts must come from a nominated fandom.
Please be sure to fill out all lines of the header (even with “None” or “N/A,” so we can count your prompts/fill for points.) If you leave a line blank we don’t know if it was intentional or a mistake, and cannot count it for points.
A Few Example Prompts:
Description: A young woman (our pink-haired protagonist) hits a man dressed in a chupacabra costume with her bag, while her friend looks on in shock.
Source: Sakura Quest
Ransom: What’s your type?
Bitty: Men.
Source: Check, Please by Ngozi
Chris: My anxiety has kept me up for over 50 hours.
Source: Parks and Recreation
Description: Hatsune Miku in a bathtub full of cash with KAITO wading through coins in the background.
Source: 大江戸ジュリアナイト (Ohedo Julianight) by Mitchie M
If Prompting
Please use the following subject line for prompt:
Prompt: [Your Team]
Replace [Your Team] with the name of the team you belong to. Nicknames or Official Names are both acceptable
Copy/Paste the following into the body of your comment. Delete all instructional text in parentheses.
NSFW Prompts
EXPLICITLY NSFW PROMPTS must be posted to the after-hours comm. “Explicitly NSFW” means that the prompt includes outright sexual content (whether in a photograph, drawing, or in words), and prompts that in the additional requests are asking for explicit fills. Prompts are posted with the same HTML format, in the same manner as a SFW prompt, just under the designated post for that Bonus Round in the after-hours comm. See ‘Filling’ for the procedures for NSFW Fills.
Once you have joined the Afterhours community, you can find the corresponding post HERE.
If Filling
Minimums
Required Work Minimums:
400 words (prose)
400px by 400px (art)
Traditional art is also allowed with a good quality photo/scan
14 lines (poetry)
Playlists - 5 song minimum with artists. Link to either a video playlist, or each song separately. Be sure to warn for content in the music videos, and you may find linking to lyrics helpful. You may also write an explanation of why you chose each song.
Moodboards - 9 photo min, source all photos, and no fanart allowed (unless it's your own)
If you’d like to use a different medium, please contact the mods if you have any questions about minimum requirements.
There is no max work cap.
Format
FILL: [Your Team], [Rating]
Replace [Your Team] with the name of the team you belong to. Nicknames and Official Names are both acceptable
Replace [Rating] with the rating of your fill (G-E).
Copy/Paste the following into the body of your comment. Delete all instructional text in parentheses.
NSFW Fills
All NSFW fills must be posted in the corresponding Bonus Round post in the After Hours community. If filling a prompt that has been posted on the after-hours comm, simply reply to that prompt. If filling a SFW prompt, let the prompter know by replying to the original prompt on the main comm with a link to your fill on the corresponding after-hours Bonus Round Post. Please do not use the Fill subject line or Fill header when cross-linking. This will cause the BR scorer to count your fill twice.
Once you have joined the Afterhours community, you can find the corresponding post HERE.
The scoring for bonus rounds depends on the number of people (n) on your team. You’re welcome to make as many prompts and fills as you like!
For prompts: 5 points per prompt, limited to 5 times the number of team members (5n)
For fills, where (n) = number of members on you team:
First 5n fills: 20 points each
Fills 5n to 10n: 10 points each
Fills 10n to 15n: 5 points each
All fills after 15n: 2 points each
Confused? Don’t worry; math is hard. Check out the Bonus Round Point Widget to help you figure out the point scale for your team.
We’ve changed the expected workload for Bonus Round Fills! The new recommended workload is 12 fills per member for Gold, 8 fills per member for Silver, and 4 fills per member for Bronze. The scoring post has been updated to reflect this (and other changes made to scoring! We’ll be releasing a Halftime update post in the near future with all the changes made thanks to your feedback!)
All scored content must be created new for this round.
Additional Information
If you're hunting through the prompts looking for what to fill, a good trick is to view top-level comments only (see the line of links below this post).
If the images have been resized too small for you to view, right-click the image (or tap and hold) and select Open Image to view it at full size.
Icie’s fantastic SportsFest Prompt/Fill database can also help you sort through prompts (and fills!)
If you’d like more information, you can look at the BR GUIDELINES.
You can also post your Fills to the Official AO3 Collection.
A Tip: We all want SportsFest to be a fun and safe environment. If you notice someone has made a mistake in their required tagging, or any other html or rules related aspect of their comment, do let them know, message them privately rather than replying - if you reply, they can’t edit the comment! If you aren’t comfortable letting the commenter know directly, contact a mod and we will make sure they update the required tags.
If you have any other concerns about Bonus Round Prompts/Fills, you can use this anonymous form to bring them to the mod team. You can submit Bonus Round concerns using this Google Form.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask a mod.

The first time I see him is on the beach. He has always been a quiet one, staring off into the waves as if they were talking to him. He never really smiles but doesn't really frown, either. He just has one of those faces that stuck like that.
His name is Tobio, even though it did take me almost a week to find that out. It isn't his fault he couldn't hear me when I asked; I just wasn't asking the right kind of questions. I saw a pretty boy I wanted to talk to. It just took a moment to realize I didn't know how to talk to him. Yet.
I learn, though. Oh, I definitely learn.
***
The sun haloes around his shining black hair, and his fingers drag idly through the sand. The sight makes me smile. He is easily the prettiest thing in sight, and I'm looking at the Pacific Ocean at sunset.
Flopping into the hot sand next to his beach towel, I give him my brightest smile and say, “Want some company?”
It's a little humbling when he doesn't spare me a second glance, I have to admit, but it isn't hard to figure out why once I look a little harder. A bulky hearing aid lies discarded on the beach towel, its owner’s eyes closed as he inhaled the salty sea air.
I don't know to sign, of course, but a guy makes do, right? So I crawl in front of his towel and carve a big old ‘hello’ into the sand in front if him. I wave for a little bit until I catch his attention, and he geeks at me when he reads my message in the sand.
From his bag, he tugs out a small whiteboard and uses the attached marker to scribble in abominable handwriting, ‘why are you saying hi?’.
He hands me the board, and I answer honestly. Because you're the most interesting thing here and also very beautiful, and he blushes when he reads it.
So I enjoy his blushing a little more than I should while he teaches me a few important phrases in sign. Thank you, hello, yes, no, sky, ocean, and beach are the primary vocabulary words for the day. He makes me sign them over and over until the movements were just right. Then I ask him how to say beautiful, and the motion itself encapsulates the true meaning of the word.
It’s almost dark before we part ways. I ask if he’ll be there tomorrow, and he indicates yes. I hadn’t planned on spending my entire summer vacation at the beach, but I want to come back if he’ll be there. His earnest answers and pouty face and terrible penmanship are hard to resist, I suppose.
Days go by, and my sign vocabulary mounts. When I finally knew enough to sign out questions character by character, it’s when I ask him his name. I expect him to sign or write it. I definitely don’t expect him to say it out loud. His voice is rough from disuse, but his name is a beautiful sound. I repeat it, and Tobio even puts his hearing aid back in to listen to me say it.
We converse a little while more. Tobio explains that he likes the beach because he can take out his hearing aid and feel the sound of the waves. I say I like the beach because he’s there, and that makes him blush, too. I’m starting to get fond of making him do that.
The looming threat of returning to college doesn’t quite go away, and it’s all I can do on the last day before I go back into the heart of the city to not ask Tobio to follow me so we don’t have to quit talking. He’s already on top of it, though, trading video chat user IDs so we can still talk here and there.
Something else is bothering him, however. I can feel it. When I ask, Tobio signs rapidly and in snappish movements; he’s frustrated, and when I miss most of what he’s saying, so am I.
Slow down, I say. What do you want to say the most?
But he doesn’t sign or write. He just takes his hand and places it over my heart, and for a moment, I can’t breathe. There aren’t words in any lexicon to adequately describe how batshit crazy my insides go at the thought of it, nor how much I want to return the favor.
Calling upon a half hour’s worth of google searching and hopefully some luck, I pick up the dry erase marker next to us and ask for his hand. I write on his palm, blow the ink dry, and then close his fist around the characters. I hope I do it right, but then I run my hand in a circular motion over the back of his palm.
I guess I did something right. His eyes grow wide, and he gasps when he unfurls his fingers to read what I wrote. The words are a little garbled by sweat, but they’re clear enough to get my point across.
Tobio drags my face toward his and kisses me until I’m breathless again, and I don’t think I’ve stopped being breathless since.
End note: running your hand in a circular motion over the back of someone's hand means 'i really like you' in jsl. (source)

---------------------
Practice had just ended and it was getting late. Kageyama had just finished getting changed, and was sitting at the top of the steps outside of the clubroom. He was waiting on Hinata, they always went home together. Except Hinata had decided to stay behind with Yachi, and Kageyama felt left out. Bored, even, sitting on the steps. Lately Hinata had been spending a lot of time with Yachi, and Kageyama was feeling jealous, though he would never admit it.
For how long he was sitting on the steps, he didn't know. But when the door opened, he turned around hastily to look. Seeing the third years walk out, but no sign of his orange-haired teammate, Kageyama sighed.
“See you tomorrow, Kageyama,” Daichi said as he walked passed.
Kageyama's reply was short, “Yeah.”
Daichi was followed by Asahi, and then Sugawara came wondering after.
But unlike the first two teammates, Sugawara stopped.
“Go on ahead without me,” he smiled to Asahi and Daichi, before sitting down next to Kageyama.
“Alright, see you tomorrow,” Daichi replied as the two headed off.
Kageyama and Sugawara were left sitting on the steps.
“Are you okay?” Sugawara asked.
Kageyama nodded, “I'm just waiting on Hinata.”
“Hinata's already left, didn't you see? He left with Yachi a while ago. We were the last ones in the clubroom,” Sugawara replied.
Kageyama's eyes widened. Did he miss them going past? No, he couldn't have. Hinata was loud, and Kageyama would have recognized his voice when he went past. But he was one of the first ones out of the clubroom. That meant Tsukishima and Yamaguchi both would've passed him without him realizing it.
Sugawara gave him an apologetic smile, “I'm sorry. Come, I'll walk you home.”
Kageyama nodded as they stood up, his head full of thoughts. That little brat, going off with Yachi and leaving him. If he felt left out before, he felt it even more now. And lonely. He and Hinata were always racing each other, but now Hinata preferred to wait for Yachi.
“Hey, you're being unusually quiet today,” Sugawara commented as they walked down the road.
“Sorry,” Kageyama mumbled.
“It's alright,” Sugawara smiled, “You're probably feeling a bit left out, aren't you?”
“How did you know?” Kageyama looked at him.
“I can see it in your eyes. They're dull, not the usual fierce eyes we see at practice. But don't worry, I know how you feel,” Sugawara added, “When Daichi spends time with Michimiya, I get left out, too.”
“Oh,” Kageyama didn't realize that. In fact, he didn't know that his senpai felt this way. Was he, perhaps, not the only one who was lonely? Looking over at his senpai, Kageyama felt a surge in his chest. Why did his heart seem so happy that he was walking home with him? He attempted to shake the feelings off, without success.
“Hey, I want to make a quick detour on the way,” Sugawara was the first to break the few minutes' comfortable silence that had just evolved between them.
“Sure,” Kageyama replied, “I don't mind.” In fact, he was finding it rather calming and nice, somehow, to walk with Sugawara. His senpai had a completely different aura around him. So warm and welcoming. It made Kageyama feel happy, without knowing why. It was different from when he was with Hinata, for Hinata got on his nerves more often than not. But with Sugawara, it was different.
Sugawara led the way. Kageyama followed him as they walked through an empty park.
“Why are we going this way?” Kageyama asked.
“I just think it's pretty,” Sugawara smiled, “Much nicer way to walk than next to the road.”
Kageyama had to agree, but there it was again. There was something about Sugawara's smile that made his heart race.
They walked over a small hill. Sugawara suddenly stopped and stared off into the distance.
“What's wrong?” Kageyama asked.
“Isn't it pretty?” Sugawara returned with a question, looking out into the horizon. Kageyama followed Sugawara's gaze. The sun was setting, the clear sky filled with shades of yellow and orange. A few stars were bright enough to be seen, and the moon was lingering too, as if waiting to shine to its full potential.
“It's beautiful,” Kageyama managed to choke out.
“I think so too,” Sugawara suddenly turned to face his kouhai, “Hey, Kageyama?”
“Yeah?”
“You're beautiful too.”
The sudden compliment from his senpai made him take a step back and blush.
“T-thank you,” he stuttered, unsure what else to say.
“Hey, put your hand out.” Kageyama did as he was told, as Sugawara rumaged through his own pockets for a few seconds, before pulling out a black marker. He jotted down a few characters on Kageyama's hand, turning it around before Kageyama had the chance to see what had been written.
“Look at it when you get home, okay?” Sugawara smiled.
Kageyama held his left hand in a fist the rest of the way home, curious as to what Sugawara had written. When they came to the junction where they were to split, Kageyama waved goodbye to his senpai and turned down the smaller alley. Unable to stop himself, he raised his left hand and opened it carefully, as if he was holding something delicate. As his hand unravelled, he looked down at the kanji characters on his hand. He almost felt his heart stop when he saw what was written.
I love you.

Hands are the most important part of their bodies, of course. Damaged and aching hands can't spike or toss or block, and fingers without well-trimmed nails can lead to one second delays. They're constantly under exertion, under or against the surface of something, but they're beautiful, they're the proof of their never-ending efforts. Kageyama likes dropping little kisses along Hinata's fingers, starting from the tip and trailing towards the palm, slowly, feeling each callous made during their long hours of practice. It always brings a smile on Hinata's face when he does that; somehow uncharacteristic of him, yet endearing and fitting his personality, he said, as if Kageyama knew anything about romance or the way he should act. But he loves leaving affection that way, even if nobody could see it (or, maybe it is because of its invisibility he feels he can convey everything properly).
Hinata likes showing his love with touches, that much is obvious. He stays close to him, grabs his arm whenever he sees something interesting, presses himself against his back to get his attention when he visits his class. Holding hands only comes naturally, fingers intertwining and palms gently keeping the warmth between them, like their hands belong together. Even though it was embarrassing at first, Kageyama quickly became used to this proximity and the comfort it brought along, not flinching one bit when Hinata decides to crush his hand in his own with no reason.
“Don't be shy,” he teases, bright eyes all-knowing.
“Then don't destroy my hand, dumbass.”
He chuckles, and produces a pen from his bag. His eyes are glinting with something that makes Kageyama's stomach dance.
“I bet you're ticklish.”
“Of course I'm not!”
Hinata proceeds to write on his palm, meticulous in his curves and slowly enough to try finding the sensitive spots, but Kageyama is unfazed, watching with smugness Hinata's attempt to draw a laugh or a groan from him. But then he takes a closer look at the lines, which at first seemed meaningless before forming syllables and then words that do, in the end, make him grumble.
“You're such an idiot.”
“You like the idiot, idiot!”
But they're both smiling, Kageyama more amused than irritated, really, because he's never thought about this (whatever it is they have) and somehow, seeing Hinata expressing so much joy from drawing on his hand with words they haven't uttered after saying them once wraps his mind with a safe and content layer of tranquility.
A heart is drawn around I like you, and this time, Kageyama does shove him, incited by a shard of fondness.
