It’s technically during an investigation? Also, please just, ignore real police and psychology facts and stuff. I took liberties.

Semi takes in the room at large, automatically taking in people’s body language, analyzing it and filing it away for later, he’d been rather looking forward to this particular collaboration with the police force, hoping to catch a glimpse of someone in particular. But as the precinct had assembled, luck obviously hadn’t been on his side, the inspector he’d been hoping to work with no where in sight.

He’s probably on a different case, oh well. Maybe Semi will be lucky enough to bump into him during the investigation. He hopes so.

He listens, bored now, as captain Ushijima explains the workings of the collaboration; nothing he’s never heard before, after all, they had collaborations like this every few months since Semi had first started working for the criminal division. It feels like hours but is actually only ten minutes later when they focus on the case at last. The captain going over the rules of the precinct for the criminal team. Semi takes them in and prepares himself to do his job,

“Okay, I’ll take you down to the debrief room so that you can go over it with the investigation team,” They follow as one, Semi following in the rear, taking his time to look around as he goes. He’s so absorbed in looking over a notice board that he doesn’t see the person coming right at him until it’s too late. They both let out a loud ‘oof’ and Semi thanks his quick reflexes as he grabs the person by the upper-arms, steadying them both.

This close, all he can see is blue. He releases the person, finding them to be rather small, even though they appear to be the same height as him. He takes the rest of them in, thoughts grinding to a halt.

When he’d said he hoped to bump into him, he didn’t actually mean literally. Konoha Akinori is staring at him and Semi thinks he’s the cutest thing he’s ever seen. Photographs clearly didn’t do him justice, hair a light gold and blue eyes glittering,

“I’m sorry, I should have been looking where I was going,” Semi apologizes, taking a step back, “I’ve just been transfered for a collaboration with one of the teams here, I’m-”

“Semi Eita,” Konoha interrupts him, and Semi shuts his mouth with a snap, teeth clacking together,

“You- you know who I am?” It wasn’t unheard of for people to know who he was, but only ever after he’d given his name. Never had he actually been physically recognized before, let alone by such a commended officer,

“Of course I do, you’re only the best and youngest profiler Japan has seen in years. And the studies you’ve published are absolutely fascinating. I’d hoped maybe you’d be on the crim’ team when I heard we were getting back up, but I wasn’t actually expecting to meet you,” Semi stares at him, dumbstruck and the investigator continues, “Oh! I’m sorry, I should introduce myself! I’m-”

“Konoha Akinori,” It’s Semi’s turn to interrupt now, Konoha’s jaw making a similar noise to the one Semi’s had done just seconds prior, “You’re the inspector who caught the Owl, among several other criminals, as well as solved three cold cases in the space of a year, I’ve read all your articles,” He isn’t one to blatantly show excitement, but the Konoha Akinori has just recognized him and he’s over the moon. He takes in the slight shuffle of feet, the roll of a shoulder and the quick flicker of eyes to his lips.

He’d never though he’d be grateful for his analyzing skills outside of his job. They’d always been annoying until now, scaring off any potential friends outside of the criminal division -he’s been told his skills are intimidating- but knowing the gorgeous man in front of him has just thought of kissing him does wonders to his ego.

He suddenly comes back from whatever alternate reality they’d found themselves in as he remembers he was supposed to be following his team to the debrief room, looking over to see that they’d disappeared. Damn it. He turns back to Konoha,

“You don’t happen to know where the debrief room is for the Mercy case do you? My team seems to have left me behind,” Konoha stands up straighter, confirming the fact that he’s only slightly shorter than Semi himself,

“Oh! I was just heading there myself- got some extra information,” He holds up the thick file that he’s holding, “That’s why I wasn’t at the greeting,” Semi can’t help the pleased smile at that, elated that he’s going to be working with him. He doesn’t miss Konoha’s brief falter, nor the way he licks his lips, and his smile turns into a light smirk as he raises an eyebrow. The reaction he gets is even better, blue gaze fixating on his mouth as Konoha’s jaw slackens, “It’s- right this- uh, come- follow me? Please?”

This is going to be fun.
