“Let me show you a secret.” Miki's eyes are wide, she's smiling like she always is. Aya's learned to be wary of that look, because it means that Miki has some idea or another. That, while not bad, usually leaves a lot to be desired on the common sense front.

“It's not anywhere dangerous, is it? Or somewhere we'll be trespassing?” Aya asks, suspicious. But she knows she'll follow Miki anywhere, has known it since she'd become friends with Miki. There's a sense of levity and wide eyed wonder about her, something that makes Aya want to protect her from how harsh and cruel people can be. But she's also seen Miki take insult and return it with kindness, a kind of resiliency and goodness to her Aya cannot claim to have.

“It'll be fine, Aya-chan.” Miki's walking backwards, offering Aya her hand. “You worry too much.”

So Aya takes her hand, lets Miki pull her to wherever it is she wants to go. Past the river they walk along on the way to school every day, following it to the woods where Aya used to play with her older brothers. They go in deeper than Aya has ever been before, but Miki seems very certain of where they are going, even though there’s no trail or path for them to follow. She doesn’t know when it changes, precisely, but suddenly the world seems brighter, more vivid.

Tachibana Aya’s a lot of things, but she likes to think she’s firmly rooted in the real world. Dreams are silly and impractical things with no substance to them, whereas Aya’s always been a pragmatist and a realist first. Even so, there are strange things Aya’s never seen before floating in the air, something between a bird and a butterfly, strangely lovely for all the surreality.

“Welcome to my world.” And suddenly, Aya thinks so many things make sense. The way Miki sometimes seemed to be talking to no one, all the staring off into space. Aya said she had her head in the clouds, but Miki was always seeing things she couldn't.

“It's easier to cross over when the seasons are changing. The barrier is weaker when the season is ending.” Miki’s smiling at one of those.. things, which seems very pleased to see Miki, judging from the way it’s flitting around her head.

“Why did you bring me here?” Aya wonders, staring at all the activity going on around her. There’s just so much going on, and Aya can’t decide what to look at.

“I just wanted to share a secret with you.” Miki says. “The seasons are changing, and it’s always something special to see. Look, they’re starting the dance.” She’s smiling as she takes Aya's hand, both of them turning to watch as the spirits danced, summoning the summer to come.
