When Eijun left his dorm, Miyuki was waiting for him. Which was… strange to say the least. It’s not that the two boys were on bad terms. They hang out together pretty often and if anything, he would say that they were on friendly terms but the first year never could figure out the older catcher. It always seemed like he knew things Eijun didn’t which was probably the case seeing as he wasn’t exactly the sharpest tool in the shed and looked at him like he was analyzing him and he had felt his eyes on his butt more than once.
Miyuki was nonchalantly leaning against the pillar and he excitedly looked up from his phone when he heard the door.
Eijun was really trying not to freak out but when the catcher started talking to him nicely without any jab and put his hand on the small of his back after inviting him to get breakfast together, his blood ran cold and he promptly fled without looking back.
He had spent almost the whole day avoiding Miyuki which had been fairly easy considering that they still wouldn’t let him train as a battery on the field and that they were on different years anyway. He had still been able to feel the heavy stare on him during most of the day and even Harucchi had mentioned Miyuki acting off.
All that build up came to a term at the end of the evening training. As soon as the coach had declared that they could go, he was dragged to the clubroom before he could start his personal training. He was unceremoniously shoved against a locker, the second year looming over him.
“Okay, Bakamura. Now you have nowhere to hide from me. Spill it.”
He avoided his eyes.
“Oh, Miyuki Kazuya. Been a while.”
“Cut the crap, please. Really, I never pegged you for the coward type.”
That certainly picked Eijun’s interest and he lifted his head to stare straight into Miyuki’s eyes.
“Who are you calling a coward ? You’re the one who has been weird with me all day.”
The second year narrowed his eyes.
“What do you mean ‘weird’ ?”
He suddenly blinked, displaying a perplexed expression.
“You mean that.. you didn’t get me ?”
It was his turn to appear confused.
“What ?”
Eijun was sure he was missing some kind of information there, he could feel it.
“Oh.”
Slowly, Miyuki’s arm fell from over his head and he took a step back.
“Well, that was pathetic. Sorry, Sawamura. I’ll stop ‘acting weird’ from now on.”
He passed all of their teammates who were eagerly taking in the scene and left the clubroom still dressed in his full catcher uniform.
“The pretty boy got rejected ! And by Bakamura of all people ! Damn, I wish I had recorded that on my phone !”
Kuramochi let out a frustrated plea and Eijun was starting to connect the dots. He got the final clue when he finally turned on his cell phone and got flooded by messages from friends and family alike wishing them all a happy birthday and a more or less subtle question about the name he had gotten.
Realization clear on his traits as he frantically undressed, looking all over his bare skin in search of a not-yet mark. A name.
He didn’t find anything at first and was starting to get more and more frustrated as time went by.
He had to have gotten a name, right ?
He was interrupted by Harucchi’s voice before the anxiety took over.
“Eijun-kun ?”
He lifted his head to look at his friend who pointed down at him.
“I think you should take a good look at your hand.”
He raised his left hand at eye level.
Stroked had started showing.
He looked completely fascinated as they multiplied on his palm, the four characters tattooing his skin in a caramel-ish colour, keeping it rather discreet despite the obvious location. He moved his hand around for a moment, watching as the muscles made the characters danse before realizing that he hadn’t actually bothered to read the name yet and froze.
A moment passed where Eijun just stood there, heart racing, eyes wide looking down at his hand before from the back of his mind, he heard the name he was reading on him in the conversations going on all around, and in the blink of an eye he was out the door, in his underwear looking for a bespectacled brunette with an infuriating smirk and beautiful brown eyes.
