In fair Verona, where we lay our scene,
Two schools, betwixt them a fierce rivalrie,
And, one night, a sight the moon had ne’er seen:
Ushiwaka, in Tooru’s balcony.

“Tooru, Tooru, wherefore art thou Seijoh.
Thou shouldst have joined Shiratorizawa.
Forsake thy school, ere our fight tomorrow,
For I love thee,” declared Ushiwaka.

To him Tooru listened impatiently,
Then sighed, “Thou hast fine legs no hose can hide,
And a codpiece that I love verily,
But, oh, forget thee not my worthless pride!”

Thus, two lovers crossed swords at their next meet,
A final duel on Veronan street.
