Remix Permissions

The remix round will open on June 16th, 2018 (12AM PT) and close on August 24th, 2018 (11:59PM PT). In the remix round, you’ll make remixes of other participants’ work! BUT, you may only remix works if you have the creator’s permission.

Common remixes are podfics, fanfiction based on art, extended/divergent/different POV fics, and art, but there’s a wide-variety of creations that could be made based on your work!

How to Give Permission

As a creator, there are three ways to give your permission:

Blanket Permission: Permission to remix ALL of your fills in ANY way. This sets the default of ALL of your fills to “remix-able.”

You may give this permission by replying to the “Blanket Permissions” comment below.

Permission w/ Caveats: This is to give permission to SOME of your fills, but not all of them. This allows you to control which of your fills are remix-able and how from one central location. (For example, minors may want to restrict remix permissions to exclude NSFW remixes).

Reply to this post with a separate comment explaining your remix permissions.

Fill Header: There is an optional line in the BR Fill Headers called “Remix Permissions.” Here you can specify remix guidelines for SPECIFIC fills. This keeps the default of your fills “un-remixable,” unless stated in the header of the fill itself. (For example, you may want to restrict sequels to a specific fill because you want to write one yourself!)

You may also use this to add specifications for each fill you create if you have chosen “Permission w/ Caveats.”

FAQ

What if I don’t want to give blanket permission anymore?

Simply delete your reply to the “Blanket Permissions” comment. This will reset all your fills to un-remixable again, unless you reply to this post or indicate in the header of specific fills. Unfortunately, we can’t remove any remixes of your work that have been made prior to rescinding your blanket permission.

What if I don’t want remixes of my fills?

That’s okay! All fills are un-remixable by default unless you give explicit permission.

I want to remix this person’s fill, but their remix permissions are a little unclear. What should I do?

Make sure to clarify with the filler first before starting any remixes of their works. If in doubt, ask or assume the fill is un-remixable.
