Kazuya couldn’t believe that was his life. He certainly hadn’t expected that, of all things, to happen tonight.

After a few successful dates with his new boyfriend, he had decided to start tasting the waters to see if they’d be able to take things further in their relationship and for that, his plan had been fairly simple.

One, ask Sawamura out. That had been the easy part considering they were boyfriends, and as such the probability of getting rejected were next to none.

Two, casually suggest a date where he knew they’d both be alone doing a common date-like activity. He wasn’t about to just go straight out to him and ask him if he wanted them to get frisky, but considering how things had turned out, he was starting to regret not going with that. At that foolish, simple time, he had just settled for a “Wanna watch a movie at my place tomorrow night? I’ll cook us dinner”. It might not have been fair of Kazuya to add food in his plan to help him lure Sawamura to his empty house but at time he hadn’t really cared. All was fair in love, right ?

After his boyfriend’s enthusiastic yes, he had moved on to the next step.

Three was preparing the place. He had spent an incredible amount of time and energy in deciding which meal, which movie, and which lightening would help set up the best romantic mood.

When Sawamura came at the agreed time, it was time up to him to make four a success.

Four, get the boyfriend in the best mood and keep it like that. It was crucial if he ever wanted a chance at getting to five. He noticed with delight how they kept flirting through all dinner, Sawamura enjoying the food and obviously, the company.

After that, it was time for step five.

Five, put the movie on while they cuddled on the sofa. It had to be the turning point and Kazuya had spent a long time carefully choosing the movie. He needed one that was familiar, so that they’d be comfortable with chatting or getting touchy while watching without feeling like they were missing out on the movie. In the end, he had settled for a popular, children movie he knew his boyfriend had already seen : The Lion King.

Kazuya had planned a lot of different outcomes for that night, the worst being Sawamura leaving the house running while screaming he was a pervert and the best included making good use of the things he kept on his nightstand. Just in case. But in none of them he had imagined his boyfriend ugly crying because of the movie. He hadn’t even had the time to make a move before he burst into tears. And not even at Mufasa’s death ! They were still at the part where Simba and Nala got lost in the elephant’s cemetery !

Kazuya couldn’t believe what he was seeing. He had had to pause the film, and he now had a sobbing boyfriend in his arms.

He sighed.

“You’re such a crybaby, you know ?”

“Shut up !”

He rolled his eyes and made an effort to put his wounded pride aside to actually go comfort his pitcher. He tightened his hold on him and talked with a low voice.

“Hey, how many times have you seen that movie ? You know how it ends, they’re going to be fine.”

“But Mufasa-”

Sawamura hiccough.

“It’s fine, well no it’s sad, but remember ? The cycle of life or whatever.”

His boyfriend lifted his head from his chest where he had buried it.

“You know, Miyuki you’re shit at comforting.”

He cringed.

“Thanks. Yeah, I know. Sorry. Not used to people crying.”

He smiled a bit which with the traces left of tears made an unusual face. Kazuya found it almost cute.

“It’s fine. I like that you’re trying.”

Sensing the good mood, and never one to let an opportunity pass him by, Kazuya slowly, carefully, got closer, tilting his head in hopes to catch his lover’s lips and almost fell forward when Sawamura suddenly pulled back.

“Oh gotta pee now, can you choose another movie to watch meanwhile ? Thanks !”

Kazuya blinked a few times. Ok, so now he got it. In retrospect, he almost laughed at himself. Romantic and subtle ? With Sawamura ?? What was he thinking ? Instead of doing what he had been asked, he straightened himself on the sofa, ready to reply, at the moment his boyfriend would ask him what was going on, with a very straightforward proposition that they do a couple homeruns in his bedroom instead.
